How we keep the Bakekick community kind, helpful, and safe.

Welcome to Bakekick — a community built by and for home bakers. These guidelines apply everywhere you interact on Bakekick: the Timeline, Conversations, Groups, Events, and the Marketplace. They exist not to restrict you, but to make sure the community stays a place where every baker — from first-time cookie seller to seasoned cake artist — feels respected, supported, and safe. By using any community feature, you agree to follow these guidelines.
Be respectful
The Bakekick community thrives because bakers support each other. Whether you're leaving a comment on someone's Timeline, posting in a Group, or messaging a seller in the Marketplace, treat every person the way you'd want to be treated in your own kitchen.
- Offer encouragement and constructive feedback
- Celebrate other bakers' wins, big and small
- Disagree with ideas, not with people
- Use inclusive language that makes everyone feel welcome
- Post hateful, discriminatory, or harassing content
- Target or bully another member — in public or via DM
- Use slurs, threats, or dehumanizing language
- Mock someone's skill level, background, or resources
Keep it relevant
Bakekick's community spaces — Timeline, Conversations, Groups, and Events — are for baking and baking-adjacent topics. Off-topic posts clutter the feed and make it harder for people to find useful content.
- Share recipes, tips, photos, and baking-related questions
- Post about bakery business topics: pricing, labeling, marketing, customers
- Use the correct Group or channel for your post (e.g., Recipes vs. Business Talk)
- Post unrelated political, religious, or controversial content
- Flood the feed with off-topic personal updates
- Cross-post the same content repeatedly across multiple spaces
No spam or self-promotion abuse
Promoting your bakery is welcome — that's partly why you're here. But aggressive self-promotion disrupts the community experience for everyone else.
- Share your work and bakery updates in context (e.g., "here's the cake I just finished")
- Link your Bakekick profile when directly relevant or asked
- Promote events or sales occasionally and authentically
- Post the same promotional content more than once per day
- Comment on others' posts solely to advertise your own bakery
- Send unsolicited promotional DMs to other members
- Use bots or automation tools to inflate engagement
Marketplace conduct
The Bakekick Marketplace connects bakers with buyers. Honesty and reliability are non-negotiable. Misrepresenting your products or failing to follow through on orders damages trust for the entire community.
- List products accurately with real photos and honest descriptions
- Communicate promptly and professionally with customers
- Honor your stated pricing, terms, and delivery or pickup commitments
- Post fake reviews or ask others to review-swap
- Sell products outside your jurisdiction's cottage food permissions
- Misrepresent allergen content — this is a safety issue, not just a conduct issue
- Ghost customers after receiving payment
Intellectual property & recipes
Recipes have a nuanced legal status, but copying someone's original content — photos, branded graphics, written descriptions, or unique creative work — without credit or permission is not acceptable here.
- Credit the original source when sharing or adapting someone else's recipe
- Share your own original photos and writing
- Ask permission before reposting another member's content
- Repost another baker's photos without credit or permission
- Claim other people's original work as your own
- Use Bakekick to distribute copyrighted materials (music, images, fonts) without a license
No harmful or illegal content
This one is non-negotiable. Content that could cause real-world harm — to individuals, to vulnerable people, or to public health — will be removed immediately and may result in permanent account suspension.
- Flag content that appears dangerous or harmful using the Report button
- Contact support immediately if you believe someone is in danger
- Post graphic, sexually explicit, or violent content
- Share instructions for illegal activities
- Post false health or safety claims about food products
- Impersonate other individuals, businesses, or public figures
Privacy & safety
Respect other members' right to control their own personal information. Never share someone else's private details without their explicit consent, and be thoughtful about what you share about yourself.
- Use Bakekick's built-in messaging tools for private conversations
- Report anyone who shares your personal information without consent
- Share another person's home address, phone number, or private contact details (doxxing)
- Screenshot and share private DM conversations publicly
- Collect or harvest other members' data for any purpose
Reporting & enforcement
If you see something that breaks these guidelines, please report it. Every post, comment, and listing has a Report option. Our moderation team reviews reports and takes action based on severity, context, and history.
- Use the Report button on the offending content
- Email the moderation team at community@bakekick.com for complex issues
- Be patient — we review every report and aim to respond within 24–48 hours
- Retaliate against someone who reported your content
- File false or bad-faith reports to harass another member

What happens when guidelines are broken
Our moderation team reviews reported content and takes appropriate action. Enforcement is graduated — we aim to educate before we penalize — but serious violations may skip straight to suspension or permanent removal.
A private notice explaining what was removed and why. First-time, minor violations.
The offending post, listing, or comment is removed. The account remains active.
Temporary or permanent loss of community access. Reserved for repeated or serious violations.
